Hydroseeding is a method of planting grass where we mix premium seed, wood-fiber mulch, starter fertilizer, tackifier binder, and water into a slurry and spray it directly onto the prepared soil. The mulch holds moisture against the seed, the tackifier glues everything to the surface so it doesn't wash off, and the result is uniform seed-to-soil contact and fast germination.
You'll typically see green sprouts in 5 to 10 days. Visible cover comes in at 2 to 3 weeks. The lawn is ready for normal foot traffic and mowing at about 6 to 8 weeks. Watering during the first 3 weeks is critical — we'll give you a simple care guide when we finish.
It depends on the size of the area, what shape the soil is in, slope access, and the seed blend you want. Free estimates are how we work — we walk the property, measure, talk it through, and give you a firm number. No fees for the visit, no obligation.
Sod gives you instant green, but it's expensive — sometimes 4 to 8 times the cost of hydroseed for the same area. Hydroseed takes a few weeks longer to fill in, but you get a deeper root system, better drought tolerance long-term, and a lawn that came up in your soil rather than rolled out from a farm. For most yards, hydroseed wins.
For cool-season grasses like fescue, early fall (mid-September through October) is the sweet spot, and spring (March–May) is the secondary window. For warm-season grasses like bermuda and zoysia, late spring through early summer is best, once soil temperatures stay above 65°F. For erosion control and construction sites, we work year-round.

Big jobs are some of our favorite jobs. Hydroseeding is faster than drill-seeding on most sites and gives more even coverage. We price by the acre on larger projects and we're set up to coordinate with grading and land clearing partners if the site needs prep first.
In most cases, the soil should be roughly graded, free of large debris, and ready to receive seed. We'll walk the site with you and tell you exactly what (if anything) needs to happen before spray day. If grading is needed and you don't have a contractor, we can recommend one.
